ADETS and/or Short-Term DWI Classes

At Shades of Purple, we offer Alcohol Assessments, ADTES, and Short Term DWI Treatment Classes. After receiving a DWI assessment, you may be recommended for ADETS or Short Term DWI Treatment. The State of North Carolina sets the criteria for ADETS or Short term DWI treatment classes. The criteria is as follows: BAC is higher than .14, having a substance use diagnosis of either mild or moderate, or you could not have a substance use diagnosis at all but record a BAC of .15 or higer. When receiving a recommendation to complete ADETS or Short term DWI treatment classes the range of hours to complete will be 20-39 hours. When receiving the recommendation after your DWI assessment to complete short term DWI treatment classes, you have the ability to start as soon as you would like at Shades of Purple.

When recommended short term DWI treatment classes as soon as you attend the first class, you have 30 or more days to complete the hours. This is state regulated through the DMV, setting the limit that short term DWI treatment classes cannot be completed no earlier than 30 days. While attending the Short Term DWI treatment classes at Shades of Purple, we provide a treatment plan for our clients. You and your substance abuse counselor will create goals based on what you want to gain out of your short term DWI treatment.

Our substance abuse counselors at Shades of Purple put the needs of the clients first when creating a treatment plan. You will have the ability to have a voice and control on what your focus is on your progress in treatment. Some examples of previous goals set throughout the short term DWI treatment classes has been: to reinstate driver’s license, to gain knowledge on impulse control, to gain knowledge on substance use habits and choice, develop new coping mechanisms, work towards sobriety, continue sobriety, evaluate influences, increase self-esteem, increase self-worth, learn how substance use affects the body, and gain knowledge about the laws and penalties.
When attending short term treatment at Shades of Purple you will have the ability to gain knowledge about substances, gain knowledge about yourself, have the ability to connect with group members who can relate to your situation, and have the ability to gain your license back when completing the course. After you have completed your alcohol assessment and short term DWI treatment hours at, Shades of Purple we will need your date of the conviction in order to complete and send in your E508 form to the DMV which allows you to reinstate your driver’s license after your suspension period has expired.
